Stuff Nico mentioned in passing had happened to her or she had done.

• Renting a room in a dungeon… “Dungeons tend to have thick walls, and if they have no windows on top of that, they block out noise way better than normal rooms. When the city is full of giant wasps humming about day and night, the prospect of a cell with solid walls becomes positively alluring, especially if it had been scrubbed down well first.” [1]

History with Daaren

A bit foggy still, but what’s more-or-less certain: The first time they met, Nico had just deserted from a rather small army she’d been press-ganged into, which was in the process of invading Raaji?. The small patrol she managed to run into and get taken prisoner by included Daaren. She managed to talk her way into being allowed to help ending the whole international impoliteness without too much bloodshed.
