Daaren
Daaren is a werewolf from a pre-industrial fantasy world, who later was transplanted elsewhere, which gives me the problem of trying to describe a character who has 3+ different ages in my head… He’s a rather quiet and serious guy.
Generally slow to change personal habits, he still feels most comfortable in rural areas or wilderness than in towns or cities, even if he could turn up anywhere. A connected aspect of his personality is that he has trouble getting close to new people, making him reserved in most company.
This kind of werewolf is a separate species rather than human inflicted with a curse/illness, and does not turn into violent monsters when changing shape.

Appearance
Human
- Basics: male, relatively tall (1,80m/about 5?11?’) and slim, but wiry, white, but since he prefers being outside not pale.
- Face: narrow, round jaw, straight nose; pale blue, narrow and slightly slanted eyes; dark brown hair tending to get shaggy; beard grow is just a thin dusting around his chin, not growing long, so he never even learned how to shave.
- Bearing: Usually he’s one for efficient movement not leaning to overt gestures.
- Clothes: Usual attire back home would involve simple trousers and shirts in browns, undyed, grey or (rarely) green, with not too tight cut.
- Comment: The images showing him with collar-lenght hair and fringe/bangs were for him aged 25–30; he grows it all out long enough to tie together later. The 40+ aged version of him can show up anywhere, so modern clothes would make sense, but he still prefers natural materials, and/or muted colours, definitely going for plain and practical rather than fancy. He’d avoid bright red if at all possible. Mind, occasionally he has to leave his clothes behind, and is soon after seen whatever he could borrow from a washing line…
Wolf
- Basics: would on sight be mistaken for a normal wolf; thin and long-legged (for the species)
- Colours: eyes still pale blue; fur in his face is grey, the rest is dark brown/grey mottled
Intermediate
- Note: Daaren takes this shape on rarely (for the improved sense of smell and hearing), and can hold it only for a few minutes at most. It is between human and wolf shape, so there is no marked boost in musculature (or strenght, for that matter).
- Basics: closer to the human side than the wolf side; feet plantigrade (that is flat, like a human’s), no tail, fur very short (colours as above)
- Details: Fingernails are slightly thickened, but not claws. Canines are lengthened slightly. Ears get pointy and begin “creeping” higher, but are still relatively thick and stiff.
Abilities, activies etc.
- “Back home” Daaren was mostly a hunter, scout and, if neccessary, fighter, so he has whatever skills are attached to it, including sitting very still for a long time. When it comes to weapons he prefers knife or dagger, or spears, but can handle sword and bow if needed. When later and elsewhere he came across guns, he came to detest them.
- Uneducated down to still being unable to read, and doesn’t have much imagination for creative solving of problems, but he can very quickly pick up skills with instruction, or even only opportunity to watch.
- Dislikes dogs, aristocrats, sweet stuff and strong scents, cities.
Relationships
He and Nico are old friends. She even manages to drag him to parties full of strangers occasionally. Their relationship could be described as close sibling-like. Who plays the older one depends on the situation.
Sylvie and Daaren ran into each other occasionally; the last time, they were forced to work together on a sort of expedition (temperate zone mountains) involving only the two of them. After that, they still are not friends, but you could speak of mutual respect.
